Representative Sharice Davids, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Kansas’ 3rd District since 2019, detailed recent legislative initiatives and concerns via social media posts. Born in Frankfurt, West Germany, in 1980, Davids now resides in Roeland Park. Having graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a BA and subsequently obtaining a JD from Cornell University, Davids continues to advocate for various socio-economic projects in her role as a Congress member.

On April 10, 2025, Davids highlighted a policy disagreement with the President. She expressed concern over the President’s decision to cut a significant domestic manufacturing program, stating, ".@POTUS says he supports domestic manufacturing — but just slashed a key program that does exactly that." In response, Davids introduced a bill aimed at assisting local manufacturers, focusing on job creation and economic growth within the domestic manufacturing sector.

The following day, on April 11, 2025, Davids addressed disparities in maternal health care. Noting a stark contrast in maternal mortality rates, she emphasized, "Black women are up to 4 times more likely to die from labor complications than white mothers. This is unacceptable." Davids is collaborating with local mothers and healthcare professionals to address what she described as the alarming state of U.S. maternal mortality, particularly in recognition of Black Maternal Health Week.

Later on April 11, 2025, she underscored the importance of agricultural stability through discussions with the Crop Insurance and Reinsurance Bureau. Her commitment to agricultural support was clearly communicated in her message, "Grateful to connect with @CIRBdc this week." Davids stated her focus on ensuring substantial support for Kansas growers, encompassing reliable crop insurance and strong market structures.

Davids, now 42, has consistently represented her constituents, bringing attention to critical issues ranging from economic development to public health. With a legal and academic background, she continues to build upon her commitment to service since replacing previous U.S. Congress member Kevin Yoder.
