Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s HHS nomination gains support from Senator Marshall

U.S. Senator Roger Marshall expressed his support for Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., President Trump's nominee for Secretary of Health and Human Services, during a Senate Finance Committee confirmation hearing in Washington, D.C. Senator Marshall addressed the issue of chronic diseases in America and the influence of ultra-processed foods on national health. He also questioned Kennedy about how his proposed initiatives would affect American agriculture.

As the founder of the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Caucus, Senator Marshall has shown consistent support for both Kennedy and the MAHA movement. During the hearing, Kennedy outlined his holistic approach to leading HHS, emphasizing goals such as increasing access to fresh foods, ensuring medical transparency, and supporting farmers and ranchers by collaborating with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Kennedy responded to questions from Senator Marshall by highlighting several key points about his vision to make America healthy again. He noted the increase in chronic illnesses and obesity rates since the time when his uncle was president: "When my uncle was president, 3% of Americans were obese. Today, 74% of Americans are obese or overweight." He emphasized that environmental toxins in food supply changes are significant contributors to these issues.

Kennedy stressed that deliberate choices have been made not to study factors causing chronic disease: "We don’t have good science on all these things, and that is deliberate." He warned that if these trends continue, they pose an existential threat: "Our country is not going to be destroyed because we get the marginal tax rate wrong... it’s going to be destroyed if we continue down this trajectory of chronic disease."

On supporting America's farmers and ranchers, Kennedy stated: "What we need to do is we need to support the farmers... I don’t want a single farmer to go out of business under our watch."
