Senators Roger Marshall and Josh Hawley have reached out to Ford Motor Company seeking clarification regarding the termination of its longstanding partnership with Jack Cooper, a company based in Kansas City. This decision has resulted in the loss of 400 jobs in the Kansas City area.
Jack Cooper had maintained a business relationship with Ford for over 40 years until the automaker ended their agreement ahead of schedule and without providing an explanation. The senators have requested that Ford clarify its reasons for ending the deal and confirm that it will meet any legal obligations arising from this termination.
"For over four decades, Jack Cooper has been a reliable partner to Ford, fulfilling all performance standards and playing an important role in Ford’s success," stated Senators Marshall and Hawley. "To end such a relationship without a clear and justified cause strikes us as a profound betrayal of American workers, who have buoyed Ford for nearly half a century."
The letter further expressed concern about the impact on the local community: "This decision disrupts lives and erodes the community’s trust in what is supposed to be a paradigmatic American company. Yet, the workers at Jack Cooper and their families are still waiting for answers."
