U.S. Senator Roger Marshall recently toured several aerospace facilities in Kansas, including General Electric (GE) Aerospace and Thyssenkrupp Aerospace. The visits underscored the significance of the aerospace sector to both the state's economy and national security.

“Kansas’ historic aerospace industry plays a critical role for both our economic strength and America’s national security,” stated Senator Marshall. “Aerospace manufacturing accounts for 20% of the Sunflower State’s total exports, and I am committed to ensuring this key industry continues to thrive in Kansas.”

During his visit to GE Aerospace in Winfield, Senator Marshall noted that the facility is one of Cowley County's largest employers, with over 750 employees. The company handles engine repairs and overhauls for military and commercial aircraft. GE collaborates with local technical colleges and workforce centers to recruit skilled workers. In response to growing demand from the aviation industry, GE plans a global investment of more than $1 billion over five years in maintenance, repair, overhaul, and component repair facilities. A $65 million portion of this investment will benefit U.S. facilities like those in Winfield.

Senator Marshall also visited Thyssenkrupp Aerospace in Park City. He engaged with staff and explored their partnership with Boeing on supply chain management. The Park City location employs about 349 Kansans, while another facility operates in Hutchinson.
