U.S. Senator Roger Marshall from Kansas appeared on Newsmax to discuss his recent legislative efforts and ongoing trade negotiations under President Donald Trump. The senator highlighted the introduction of the Overtime Wages Tax Relief Act, which aims to fulfill a key campaign promise by President Trump.

Marshall emphasized the importance of this legislation for hourly wage employees, stating, "You know, this One Big Beautiful Bill will be President Trump’s legacy." He explained that the bill would allow individuals to retain up to $4,000 more of their earnings by exempting the first $10,000 of overtime wages from taxation.

Reflecting on his own experiences with overtime wage taxes as a young worker, Marshall recounted his early jobs and how much of his earnings were taken by taxes. "My first job off the farm, I wasn’t quite 16 yet," he shared. He noted that many Americans today face similar situations where they expect larger paychecks due to overtime but find them reduced significantly by taxes.

Regarding trade negotiations, Marshall discussed recent developments involving China and potential deals with Mexico, Canada, and Japan. He reiterated President Trump's goals of bringing manufacturing jobs back to America and securing lasting trade agreements. "Even just moments ago," he said, "President Trump announced...they’re going to sit down with the Chinese and work on a trade deal."

Marshall drew parallels between Trump's initiatives and those of former President Eisenhower, suggesting that while there may be short-term challenges, long-term benefits are expected. He pointed out positive trends in Kansas's manufacturing sector as evidence of progress.
