On Monday, Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas released a video detailing the benefits of the 'One Big, Beautiful Bill,' a legislative package that he claims will have significant positive impacts on Kansas families. According to Marshall, the bill is designed to prevent a historic tax increase, expand the Child Tax Credit, support small businesses, and reduce national debt.

The bill recently passed the House and is now before the Senate. "This bill, passed by the House and improved by the Senate, puts you first," said Marshall in his video message. The Senate is anticipated to vote on it later this week.

Marshall emphasized several key components of the bill: "First and foremost, the One Big, Beautiful Bill prevents the largest tax increase in American history." He noted that it aims to keep taxes low and enhance economic growth while making permanent certain tax cuts introduced in 2017.

The legislation includes measures such as a $1,000 federal deposit for children born after January 1, 2024, aimed at helping with future expenses like education or starting a business. It also increases the Child Tax Credit from $1,000 to $2,200 per child.

Additional features highlighted by Marshall include eliminating taxes on tips and overtime pay and extending tax credits for paid family and medical leave. The bill also proposes permanent increases in income tax deductions for small business owners.

Marshall assured constituents that Medicare would remain untouched while Medicaid would be strengthened with increased spending above inflation rates. Moreover, he stated that the bill addresses national debt concerns by cutting $2 trillion in federal spending over ten years.

Marshall concluded his remarks by quoting President Reagan: “If you get 80% of what you want, take it.” He asserted that this legislation provides more than 90% of what Kansans need for lower taxes and a stronger future.
