U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kansas), recently appeared on Fox News Live with Rich Edson to discuss several pressing issues including the Senate's reconciliation bill, Medicaid reform, and international conflicts involving Israel and Iran.

Senator Marshall expressed urgency regarding the Republican reconciliation bill, likening its delay to a pregnancy overdue by three weeks. He emphasized the importance of passing the bill as it represents President Trump's legacy and includes what he described as "the largest tax decrease in American history." He also noted that securing the border is a key component of this legislative effort.

Regarding negotiations around the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction, Marshall highlighted the challenges faced in reaching a consensus. He mentioned that Speaker Johnson played a significant role in negotiating until the last moment. Despite wishing for more spending cuts, Marshall acknowledged that this was "the best bill" achievable under current circumstances.

On Medicaid, Senator Marshall addressed access issues for those enrolled in the program, pointing out that many doctors do not accept Medicaid patients. The proposed legislation aims to support rural hospitals and Community Health Centers through block grants, ensuring affordable access to primary care without affecting vulnerable groups such as seniors, people with disabilities, pregnant women, or children.

Marshall outlined potential savings from Medicaid reforms by addressing provider taxes and reducing fraudulent claims. He also supported work requirements for able-bodied individuals receiving benefits.

Turning to international matters, Senator Marshall commented on military actions against Iran's nuclear facilities. He praised U.S. military efforts while expressing hope for diplomatic solutions over continued conflict. Emphasizing sanctions over military intervention, he stated his desire for peace across various global hotspots including Gaza and Ukraine.
