U.S. Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas has joined other Republican senators in introducing a Senate resolution to honor the late Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA. Kirk was assassinated on September 10, 2025, while speaking at Utah Valley University.
Senator Marshall expressed condolences to Kirk’s family. “My wife Laina and I are devastated, and our hearts and prayers are with his wife, Erika, and their two children,” said Senator Marshall. “Charlie was a person of faith, and I know that God will be there for his family in this moment. Charlie’s legacy is cemented as one of the great thought leaders of Conservatism in the 21st century, reaching millions of young people and college students about the importance of faith, family, and country.”
The resolution introduced by the senators condemns Kirk's assassination and honors his contributions. It notes that Kirk founded Turning Point USA in 2012, which became a prominent conservative campus advocacy group with rapid growth across college campuses nationwide. The resolution also recognizes Kirk’s efforts to promote civil discourse among college students by engaging them in open debates regardless of political background.
