U.S. Senator Roger Marshall has responded to Kansas Governor Laura Kelly's decision to veto Senate Bill 63, which was designed to protect minors in Kansas from genital mutilation and irreversible hormone replacement treatments.

Senator Marshall expressed his disapproval of the governor's actions, stating, “Governor Laura Kelly’s veto of a bill that would have protected Kansas children from mutilation and irreversible hormone replacement treatments is disgraceful.” He further criticized Governor Kelly by saying, “Yet again, Governor Kelly is putting her radical liberal ideology above the safety of Kansas kids. Child mutilation is not a parental right and on the contrary, should be criminal."

The senator also indicated his anticipation for the legislature's next steps: "I look forward to the legislature overriding this insane veto.”
