U.S. Senator Roger Marshall appeared on Fox Business to discuss key political topics, including budget reconciliation, President Donald Trump's cabinet nominees, and challenges faced by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
During his appearance with Maria Bartiromo, Senator Marshall emphasized priorities for budget reconciliation: "What we’re going to do is prioritize funding to secure the border, to improve the military, to unleash American energy, and then finally, bring some fiscal sanity back to America." He outlined plans to reduce federal spending from $7 trillion a year down to $6.1 trillion as a measure that could help lower interest rates.
Addressing the confirmation of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services, Marshall commented on partisan perspectives: “The Democrats are hung up. It’s kind of amazing to me. If Bobby had been nominated by Joe Biden, it would have been called a brilliant move.” He expressed optimism about working with Kennedy towards improving public health: "We are going to make America healthy again."
Marshall also discussed issues related to improper government payments highlighted by the Government Accounting Office: “Last year, the federal government sent out $250 billion of improper payments.” He criticized oversight failures and urged Congress to support President Trump's efforts in addressing these inefficiencies.
Senator Marshall reiterated the administration's focus on making Americans safe and prosperous through regulatory rollback and tackling inflation: “Let’s make them prosperous by rolling back regulations, fighting inflation, lowering energy costs.”
