U.S. Senator Roger Marshall and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins recently engaged in a fireside chat at the Top Producer Summit in Kansas City, marking the conclusion of their visit to key agricultural sites across Kansas. The conversation, moderated by Senator Marshall, focused on the priorities for American agriculture.
Secretary Rollins highlighted her commitment to enhancing American agriculture and emphasized the shared goal with Senator Marshall of supporting farmers and ranchers who play a crucial role in feeding both the nation and the world. They discussed reducing government regulations and boosting agricultural production as vital steps forward.
The pair also appeared on RFD-TV to discuss topics such as tariffs, collaboration with President Trump to aid farmers and ranchers, and progress on the upcoming Farm Bill.
Senator Marshall addressed challenges faced by rural farmers: “As the Secretary mentioned, there’s been a record drop in net farm income. But the opportunities are there. The dairy industry is growing in Kansas. The cattle industry is growing as well. Biofuels are huge opportunities as well.”
On tariffs, he stated: “Farmers and ranchers support President Trump... He used those tariffs for the long-term gain of the farmers... I think India will replace China as one of our top markets as well.”
Regarding the next Farm Bill, Senator Marshall expressed optimism: “We’ll get done this year... We will put the farm back in Farm Bill.”
He praised Secretary Rollins' dedication: “Secretary Rollins lives, breathes, and eats this agriculture world... She was born and raised in agriculture... And then her relationship with President Trump over the last eight years...”
The discussions underscored a commitment to advancing agricultural interests while addressing regulatory challenges faced by those within the sector.
