Rep. Sharice Davids, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Kansas' 3rd district since 2019, recently expressed concerns about aviation safety and local preparations for an upcoming international event. Her comments reflect a focus on public safety and community development.

On February 20, 2025, Rep. Davids criticized the President's decision to dismiss hundreds of FAA workers amidst staffing shortages in the aviation system. She stated that this move is "irresponsible and dangerous," especially following a recent collision, and emphasized the need to strengthen rather than undermine safety measures. "With staffing shortages already straining our aviation system, the President’s move to fire hundreds of FAA workers is irresponsible and dangerous."

The following day, February 21, 2025, Rep. Davids called for immediate action to prevent further aviation tragedies by urging the Department of Transportation (USDOT) to implement bipartisan air safety reforms as soon as possible. "We must act now to prevent more aviation tragedies."

Later that same day, she discussed regional preparations for the FIFA World Cup with leaders from across Kansas City. Rep. Davids expressed enthusiasm for showcasing what local communities have to offer during this global event. "Had another great convo with leaders from across KC on getting our region ready for the @FIFAWorldCup."
