U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, representing Kansas, participated in a National Report segment on Newsmax to discuss his reintroduced bill, the Defining Male and Female Act. The legislation aims to establish legal definitions of male, female, and sex, basing them on biological attributes rather than ideological perspectives.

The proposed bill seeks to incorporate into law the principles outlined in an executive order issued by former President Donald Trump. This executive order, titled "Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government," asserts that sex is determined at conception, based on reproductive cells. The bill emphasizes maintaining this binary framework in federal operations.

During his interview, Senator Marshall, who has a background in obstetrics, expressed his views on the necessity of this legislation. He stated, "I can’t believe it’s necessary. But as you all know, I was an obstetrician for 30 years of my life. I delivered a baby almost every day. I delivered the baby, and I would say a prayer until it made its first cry, and then as the baby started crying, I would hand the baby to the new mom and the new dad and say, it’s a boy, it’s a girl. I never said, well, we’re not sure what this is."

Explaining the bill's intentions, Marshall added, "So, what this bill does, and I’m embarrassed that we have to do this, is say, look, if this child, if this baby, if this future young man, makes sperm, then he’s a male. He’s a dude. And if it’s a person that makes oocytes, makes eggs, then guess what? It’s a girl."

Senator Marshall also referenced President Trump's executive order, remarking on its goal to "protect the rights, the safety and dignity of women." He advocated for maintaining distinctions between biological sexes in various societal and governmental contexts, mentioning sports, locker rooms, passports, and public accommodations.

"Let’s keep boys out of girls’ sports. Let’s keep boys out of the girls’ locker room," he said, emphasizing the bill's alignment with Trump's directives on recognizing only two sexes.
