U.S. Senator Roger Marshall expressed his appreciation for the FBI's recent actions in preventing a potential threat to Kansas' wheat crops. The agency arrested two Chinese nationals suspected of having connections with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). They were allegedly caught smuggling Fusarium Graminearum, a fungus known to cause significant damage to various crops including wheat, barley, maize, and rice.

Senator Marshall emphasized the economic importance of protecting Kansas' agriculture from such threats. "I want to thank FBI Director Kash Patel for saving Kansas’ economy and America’s food supply from potential ruin," he stated. He highlighted that Kansas is the largest wheat producer in the United States and faces ongoing risks from diseases like wheat scab, which could severely impact both state and national economies.

Marshall reiterated his stance on food security being integral to national security. He pointed out that this incident underscores the necessity of safeguarding American agriculture against foreign influence and interference.
