On Thursday, U.S. Senator Roger Marshall from Kansas appeared on Fox Business' The Bottom Line with hosts David Webb and Dagen McDowell. The discussion centered around the Senate's approval of the President’s rescissions package and concerns about bias in NPR and PBS.

Senator Marshall expressed support for cutting funding to NPR and PBS due to fiscal concerns. He stated, “That’s just fine with me, David. The backdrop of this is $37 trillion of national debt... And here we’re spending a billion dollars on public television.” He emphasized the preference for redirecting funds towards rural hospitals instead.

Marshall highlighted alternative uses for savings from the cuts: “It’s only $9 billion, but again, that could help keep rural hospitals open... better things to do with $9 billion, including paying off the national debt.”

Regarding severe weather broadcasting, he questioned public broadcasting's role: “I don’t know anyone that turns to public broadcasting during these types of emergencies... We would probably go to a radio station, but most likely, we want a local television with a locally trained meteorologist.”

He also commented on perceived political biases: “So, they’re getting out a leftist message; these public broadcasts have been turned into another tool of the leftist socialists... there are better things to do with the money.”
