U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D., recently appeared on Newsmax to discuss his proposed legislation, the Safeguarding the Overall Protection of Minors Act (STOP Act). The bill aims to prevent minors from undergoing gender-altering procedures. According to Senator Marshall, these procedures can cause irreversible physical and emotional harm.
During the interview, Senator Marshall highlighted a promise made by former President Trump: “One of President Trump’s promises was to stop the mutilation of children, and our bill does exactly that.”
Senator Marshall emphasized the irreversible nature of these procedures, stating, “I just want to emphasize that this is mutilating children. It’s irreversible, whether it’s the surgeries or the hormones – most of the hormonal changes are irreversible as well. They lead to osteoporosis, they lead to infertility."
He also compared these medical decisions with other age-restricted activities: “We don’t let kids…buy alcohol underage, we don’t let them get tattoos, all sorts of different things until certain ages as well." He expressed concern over young children's ability to understand such complex issues: "The thought of a two-year-old even having a concept of what this is like, I think this blows all of our minds.”
