U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D., recently appeared on Fox Business to advocate for proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote. Highlighting actions by states like Virginia and Texas, which have removed thousands of illegal aliens from voter rolls, Senator Marshall argued that such measures should not be controversial.
Marshall is an original cosponsor of the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, a bill that mandates proof of American citizenship during voter registration. "Election integrity is paramount to the survival of a democracy, of a republic like ours," said Marshall. He added that showing a birth certificate or other proof of citizenship when registering to vote is comparable to requirements for obtaining a driver's license.
"We need election integrity. It’s very important to a democracy that every vote is counted equally," he stated, expressing concerns about illegal voting diluting democratic processes.
Senator Marshall also addressed his recent letter to the Department of Labor (DOL), criticizing its jobs reports as misleading and accusing the department of falsely reporting economic data in support of the Biden-Harris administration's agenda. "They didn’t miss the mark by just a little bit on this jobs report; they missed it by 30%," said Marshall.
He emphasized the impact of these inaccuracies on public trust and economic decisions, particularly regarding interest rates and home buying. "This is one more example of why Americans don’t trust the federal government," he asserted.
Marshall called for accountability from the DOL, urging an explanation for what he described as significant statistical discrepancies in their reports close to an election cycle.
